Just outside Leeuwarden and on the waterfront, our restaurant is located in the middle of the 'Grutte Wielen' nature reserve. At restaurant Groote Wielen we go big ('groot' in Dutch): in food, in drink and in attention. When you sit down at our restaurant, look around you. Nature is breathtakingly beautiful here in every season.

We have a large restaurant inside with several cosy spots and a terrace surrounding the establishment for more than 200 guests.

We are there for the culinary duo with bubbles and appetizers, for the relaxed coffee moment with cake and for the large groups with noise. And not to forget the families with children. Together they make Groote Wielen.

Our menu is diverse. We serve the classics, but also explore new flavors. For the children there is of course a children's menu.

We have a large parking lot in front of the door and our location just outside the center makes our restaurant easy to drive to. We are also accessible by shared scooters from downtown. Stay for drinks? Grab a bike or use the bus stop right outside the door! The name of the bus stop is 'Green Star, Ouddeel'.
